Sergio Alex Kugland de Azevedo

Graduated in Geology (1979) and Biology (1985) from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul. Master’s (1982) and Doctorate (1991) in Geosciences from the same university. Post-doctorate in Art and Design from PUC-Rio (2021). He is currently a full professor at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. Researcher and academic advisor in the areas of Vertebrate Paleozoology, working mainly on the following themes: paleovertebrates, dinosaurs, Cretaceous and three-dimensional technologies applied to scientific research and exhibitions. Since 2003, he has coordinated the Digital Image Processing Laboratory of the National Museum/UFRJ, where he provides support for research with three-dimensional digital technologies in the areas of paleontology, zoology, geology, archaeology, art, cinema and dance. He is a member of the group “Space-XR: research and studies in shared metaverses”, where he coordinates the area of ​​scientific, historical and cultural heritage.
Founder (2018) and coordinator of the Lapid Cine Clube at the Museu Nacional/UFRJ.

He is married to Luciana and father of Alice.
