Foi, portanto, um dos dinossauros mais antigos do mundo. Seu f\u00f3ssil foi descrito formalmente em 1970 por Edwin Colbert a partir de um esqueleto praticamente completo, do qual faltavam apenas o cr\u00e2nio, ossos dos bra\u00e7os e p\u00e9s (COLBERT, 1970). No in\u00edcio dos anos 2000 seu f\u00f3ssil foi emprestado ao Museu Nacional onde serviu de material de estudo para uma nova descri\u00e7\u00e3o detalhada da esp\u00e9cie (BITTENCOURT &amp; KELLNER, 2009).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Em 2005 o f\u00f3ssil desse dinossauro foi digitalizado em 3D com o intuito de gerar uma reconstru\u00e7\u00e3o virtual tridimensional completa de seu esqueleto para aplica\u00e7\u00e3o em estudos de biomec\u00e2nica e locomo\u00e7\u00e3o (GRILLO &amp; AZEVEDO, 2011a, b). Toda a modelagem foi feita no software Autodesk 3ds Max, que permitiu realizar o processo de retrodeforma\u00e7\u00e3o, isto \u00e9, a corre\u00e7\u00e3o de distor\u00e7\u00f5es presentes em alguns dos ossos fossilizados, bem como modelar ossos quebrados ou faltantes. Os ossos faltantes foram criados com base em compara\u00e7\u00f5es com outras esp\u00e9cies de dinossauros proximamente relacionadas, como o Herrerasaurus ischigualastensis. O modelo 3D final foi utilizado nos trabalhos de monografia, disserta\u00e7\u00e3o de mestrado e tese de doutorado do autor do modelo (GRILLO, 2005, 2007, 2014).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A partir desse esqueleto digital, a equipe do LAPID decidiu fazer o que seria, \u00e0 \u00e9poca, o primeiro esqueleto reconstitu\u00eddo de um dinossauro a ser totalmente prototipado fisicamente e em tamanho real utilizando impressoras 3D (Figura 1). Para isso foi usada uma Zcorp 310. Normalmente era montado numa posi\u00e7\u00e3o que lembra a disposi\u00e7\u00e3o dos ossos reais no f\u00f3ssil.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Infelizmente esse modelo foi perdido durante o inc\u00eandio de 2018 que atingiu o Museu Nacional. Al\u00e9m desse, outros esqueletos de dinossauros, montados na exposi\u00e7\u00e3o do museu (mas produzidos seguindo metodologias tradicionais de escultura e moldagem em resina), tamb\u00e9m foram perdidos. Dentre as perdas, podemos destacar o esqueleto completo do dinossauro saur\u00f3pode Maxakalisaurus topai, um animal com cerca de 12 metros de comprimento, e o esqueleto do dinossauro ter\u00f3pode Angaturama limai, com cerca de 6 metros de comprimento.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During the restructuring of LAPID, we acquired new equipment, including a filament 3D printer. In 2024, we decided to produce a new 3D print of the Staurikosaurus<em> skeleton.&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Durante a reestrutura\u00e7\u00e3o do LAPID, pudemos adquirir novos equipamentos, incluindo uma impressora 3D de filamentos. A partir disso, em 2024, decidimos produzir uma nova impress\u00e3o 3D do esqueleto do Staurikosaurus. Modelo virtual do esqueleto de Staurikosaurs pricei na posi\u00e7\u00e3o em que ser\u00e1 produzido.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Utilizando o software 3ds Max, os ossos virtuais foram unidos com estruturas que simulam cartilagens e ligamentos (Figura 3), criando 15 conjuntos de ossos conectados. Em cada conjunto foram modeladas estruturas de encaixe para permitir a montagem final de forma facilitada. Al\u00e9m disso, foi modelada uma base de sustenta\u00e7\u00e3o com 90cm de comprimento, tamb\u00e9m dividida em tr\u00eas partes com encaixes. As 18 pe\u00e7as foram produzidas de forma que possam ser impressas em tamanho real na \u00e1rea limite de impress\u00e3o de 30x30cm da impressora utilizada (3D Creality K1 Max). Prot\u00f3tipo final do esqueleto de Staurikosaurus.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Esse projeto piloto serviu de teste para verificar a viabilidade desse tipo de t\u00e9cnica para produzir pe\u00e7as de exposi\u00e7\u00e3o. Ap\u00f3s a impress\u00e3o, constatamos que o prot\u00f3tipo era demasiadamente flex\u00edvel para que se auto sustentasse. Para n\u00e3o incluir suportes vis\u00edveis, foi necess\u00e1rio modificar o esqueleto prototipado e inserir um eixo oco de metal por dentro da coluna vertebral. Essa e outras pequenas modifica\u00e7\u00f5es permitiram que o esqueleto fosse usado em uma exposi\u00e7\u00e3o no Museu Universit\u00e1rio Solar Grandjean de Montigny da PUC-Rio.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color has-large-font-size wp-elements-4e3c3e102aa5af85fa71b23f7bf89a51\" id=\"01-staurikosaurus-pricei\"><strong><strong><strong><strong>02. <\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong>Maxakalisaurus topai<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ainda em 2024, o Museu Nacional iniciou os trabalhos para produzir uma nova c\u00f3pia do esqueleto do dinossauro Maxakalisaurus topai, descrito em 2006 (KELLNER et al., 2006), para ser usada na reinaugura\u00e7\u00e3o de suas exposi\u00e7\u00f5es. Para auxiliar no trabalho de montagem das estruturas de suporte de ferro, foi solicitado \u00e0 equipe do LAPID um projeto para execu\u00e7\u00e3o das ferragens de suporte. Para viabilizar esse projeto, decidimos digitalizar em 3D (Scanner Revopoint Range) todos os ossos desse dinossauro a partir de r\u00e9plicas em resina ainda existentes, que n\u00e3o foram afetadas pelo inc\u00eandio. Processo de digitaliza\u00e7\u00e3o das r\u00e9plicas de ossos de Maxakalisaurus.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tradicionalmente o processo de montagem de esqueletos de dinossauros demanda um m\u00e9todo que requer tentativas e erros at\u00e9 chegar \u00e0 estrutura final de suporte que permita a montagem dos ossos.  Normalmente, diversas altera\u00e7\u00f5es e corre\u00e7\u00f5es se fazem necess\u00e1rias ao longo do processo. Com o modelo digital, podemos decidir antecipadamente a posi\u00e7\u00e3o final do esqueleto inteiro. Al\u00e9m disso, podemos modelar virtualmente toda a estrutura de suporte, a ser feita com tubos de metalon, calculando o tamanho dos segmentos, bem como \u00e2ngulos de encaixe e de solda, tudo de forma a minimizar a quantidade de ferragens que fiquem vis\u00edveis na montagem final (Figura 6). Esqueleto digital de Maxakalisaurus e estruturas met\u00e1licas de suporte a serem produzidas para a montagem final.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Aproveitando a oportunidade da digitaliza\u00e7\u00e3o do esqueleto do Maxakalisaurus, planejamos tamb\u00e9m produzir uma r\u00e9plica em escala reduzida de seu esqueleto, utilizando o mesmo processo de montagem que foi feito para o Staurikosaurus. O modelo j\u00e1 est\u00e1 sendo segmentado em partes para impress\u00e3o. Em breve iniciaremos as modifica\u00e7\u00f5es necess\u00e1rias no modelo virtual para produzir as pe\u00e7as articuladas e encaixes para orientar na montagem final do esqueleto. Esse modelo poder\u00e1 ser usado em exposi\u00e7\u00f5es inclusivas, permitindo que pessoas portadoras de defici\u00eancias visuais possam enxergar como era o esqueleto do Maxakalisaurus.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">O sucesso obtido nas duas iniciativas aqui relatadas nos fazem acreditar na continuidade desse tipo de procedimento visando produzir r\u00e9plicas de outros esqueletos para apoio \u00e0 pesquisa e exposi\u00e7\u00f5es, tanto de dinossauros quanto de outros vertebrados f\u00f3sseis. Esse pode, portanto, se tornar o processo padr\u00e3o para produ\u00e7\u00e3o de novas montagens de esqueletos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Relatamos aqui parte das atividades desenvolvidas pela equipe de pesquisadores do Laborat\u00f3rio de Processamento de Imagem Digital (LAPID) com o objetivo de proporcionar a difus\u00e3o atrav\u00e9s do metaverso das atividades de ensino e pesquisa desenvolvidas com o acervo cient\u00edfico-cultural do Museu Nacional\/UFRJ. Essas atividades est\u00e3o diretamente relacionadas \u00e0 vincula\u00e7\u00e3o do LAPID ao Projeto Space-XR: Pesquisa em Metaversos Compartilhados, que envolve, ainda, o Laborat\u00f3rio Biodesign vinculado \u00e0 PUC-Rio, al\u00e9m do Visgraf, Instituto de Matem\u00e1tica Pura e Aplicada-IMPA\/MCTI. Nesse projeto o LAPID atuou na coordena\u00e7\u00e3o da linha denominada Patrim\u00f4nio Cient\u00edfico-Cultural.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"references\">Refer\u00eancias<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">BITTENCOURT, J.
