Graduated in Geology (1979) and Biology (1985) from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul. Master’s (1982) and Doctorate (1991) in Geosciences from the same university. Post-doctorate in Art and Design from PUC-Rio (2021). He is currently a full professor at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. Researcher and academic advisor in the areas of Vertebrate Paleozoology, working mainly on the following themes: paleovertebrates, dinosaurs, Cretaceous and three-dimensional technologies applied to scientific research and exhibitions. Since 2003, he has coordinated the Digital Image Processing Laboratory of the National Museum/UFRJ, where he provides support for research with three-dimensional digital technologies in the areas of paleontology, zoology, geology, archaeology, art, cinema and dance. He is a member of the group “Space-XR: research and studies in shared metaverses”, where he coordinates the area of scientific, historical and cultural heritage.
Founder (2018) and coordinator of the Lapid Cine Clube at the Museu Nacional/UFRJ.
He is married to Luciana and father of Alice.
